It has been a productive June for the gaming community as Sony announced its upcoming titles such as Stray, The Callisto Protocol, and Rollerdome as part of the State of Play event, while Xbox revealed more than 30 games it plans to bring to its popular subscription service, Game Pass, in the next 12 months. In addition to this, the only game events that fans kept their eye on throughout the week were not limited to these.
Guerilla hosted its own showcase that features plenty of nice-looking indie games such as Signalis, Monster Outbreak, and Alterium Shift as Capcom unveiled Resident Evil 4 Remake, next-gen update for Resident Evil 2 Remake, 3 Remake, and 7, alongside new expansion packs for Resident Evil Village and Monster Hunter Rise. We kicked off the summer better than expected after this year’s Gamescom was canceled due to COVID restrictions.
Game Pass is the new favorite of gamers
Xbox Game Pass has been increasing in popularity among players in the last few years thanks to the new business model it brought to the gaming industry. After years of competing with Sony, Xbox decided to appeal to a wider customer base by offering more than 400 games, including both AAA and indie titles, for a monthly price. On the other hand, the company did not compromise on quality by acquiring large studios such as Bethesda and Activision&Blizzard. Sony realized they had to do something to stay in the race with Xbox and resorted to a similar method. In the previous month, Sony announced its all-new subscription service called PlayStation Plus.
The Xbox&Bethesda event, which took place two days ago, showcased that more than 20 titles, including one of the most expected games, Starfield, will make their way to Game Pass at launch. Minecraft Legends, Redfall, the Persona series, and A Plague Tale: Requiem are only four of those games that are planned to be brought into the service.
