LCS 2022 Summer: Week 7 Recap

| |

The hotly anticipated playoff stage of the 2022 LCS Summer Split is fast approaching, with only one week remaining until the end of the regular season. Evil Geniuses lost their first place to 100 Thieves, having been bested by Team Liquid in a pivotal match to secure their lead in the standings. Counter Logic Gaming, on the other hand, tied in third place with Team Liquid after taking down Cloud9 and FlyQuest in a dominant fashion.

There has been an intense competition between low-of-the-pack teams such as TSM, Dignitas, and Immortals to secure their tentative playoff spot. With their shattering loss against Immortals, Golden Guardians found themselves on the edge of the playoff bracket as they moved back to eighth place, where they will have to win all the remaining matches to survive their hopes. For those who had no time to watch the games, here is the recap of week 7 of the regular season.

The first thing to mention about the course of the league is that 100 Thieves have been getting better as the weeks pass. Led by their jungler Closer, who has maintained his standard since the start of the season, 100 Thieves extended their superior winning streak to 6 games, having annihilated Golden Guardians and Cloud9. They now have a job to protect their first place against the defending champion, and it will be totally up to 100 Thieves to kick off the 2022 LCS Championship in an advantageous position.

Evil Geniuses had to win their match against Team Liquid to move into solo possession, but things went horribly wrong for the defending champion. Although Team Liquid had a shaky season thus far, the star-fuelled roster showed off a superior performance reminiscent of the lock-ın tournament, where they looked synced contrary to their disjointed fashion in the regular season.

Week 8 of the regular season is set to be played as a superweek, where each team will have three remaining matches to play. 100 Thieves will face off against FlyQuest and Counter Logic Gaming before taking on Team Liquid, while Evil Geniuses will complete the regular Split against Cloud9 after going up against Golden Guardians and Dignitas. You can watch all the games from the official LCS Twitch channel.
