LPL 2022 Spring Week 1: FPX surprised RNG, BLG defeated WBG

The matches of the first week in the LPL 2022 Spring Split have concluded with Oh My God opening the season better than analysts expected. OMG won all three series they played and reached the top before Week 2 began.

EDG, one of the marked teams for the championship, showed off its intent to defend the crown by taking down JDG and TT, respectively. There are still few teams that can beat EDG in the long run, though they did not make an addition to their starting roster. Keeping the current squad that brought two championships last year is their advantage over the other teams.

FPX, who revamped its starting roster around Gori and Clid after underperforming at Worlds 2021, squeezed RNG in the second series of Week 1. They completed the first week undefeated, which means this newly created team has enough potential to make the playoffs.

LNG Esports kicked off its spring campaign with two clean wins over Ultra Prime and Rare Atom. Doinb played a vital role for his new team to take the global gold lead in their hands as ruled over macro game throughout both series.

Top Esports benched Tian after his dubious performance against RA. The 2022 LPL Spring Split will be strenuous for the two former finalists, TES and JDG.

BLG was another team that started the season as predicted. They overwhelmed WBG in the closing series of the week as Doggo made his LPL debut. We have talked about how BLG built a quality roster by acquiring Breathe, FoFo, and Crisp. Even though they gave Doggo a chance instead of playing with Uzi, BLG secured its first win after a fierce battle against WBG.
