In an recent article from Variety there have been a lot of revelations and discussions. These were on how WB is planning to move forward in its future with film and streaming. The article talks about the shocking cancellation of Batgirl along with many other DC and non DC programmes. Along with the discussion of the projects yet to be released such as Aquaman 2 and the “Flash”.

So, why was Zack Snyder’s Justice League ever made?

To recap here is what happend:

After the release of Batman vs Superman, director Zack Snyder was set to continue the world he’d created in Justice League. But soon after Snyder’s had to leave as director due to family reasons. The studio brought in Avengers and Age of Ultron director Joss Whedon to finish the film. Whedon and WB decided to reshoot a majority of the film and cut it down to a nice 2 hours.

Whedon’s reshoots also caused a few continuity errors, Henry Cavill’s infamous moustache, and a conflicting tone throughout the film. On top of all this, Cyborg actor, Ray Fisher, has accused Whedon of abusive behaviour on set multiple times since the release of the film.
After hearing how much different Snyder’s original version of the film was, fans demanded that Warner Bros. release ‘The Snyder Cut’.

So to know more about the actual film i would recommend the review on our site.

What is the view now?

Since there there have been a lot of news on the snyderverse and the fans demand to review it. One of the most damning of them being that the campaign for the movie was driven by bots. Rather than genuine fans. It also lead to rabid fans expecting more from WB in regards to that universe. So the Variety article shows how the ,movie is being perceived internally:

“Privately, studio insiders have lamented that “Zack Snyder’s Justice League” never should’ve happened. Rather than quiet the unceasing online campaigning to #ReleasetheSnyderCut, the four-hour HBO Max feature only further entrenched the vocal and extremely online “Snyderverse” fanbase in opposition to the leadership at the studio in general and at DC in particular.”

Variety

This clearly indicates how the movie was not profitable enough. Along with how the studio views it as something that just gave something for the fans to rally against them. The one thing for sure is that at least for now the Snyderverse is pretty dead and not gonna be back any time soon. But never say never.
