LEC 2022 Summer – Week 3 Day 1 Results

| | ,

League European Championship is back into the action with the third week of the regular season, where MAD Lions defeated the reigning champion, G2 Esports, in the closing match of the first day to stay as a contender for the top place. Rogue, on the other hand, made a mess by taking down Excel with a classic late-game composition that we are used to seeing Korean teams use it in the LCK. Here are the full results for day 1 of week 3 in the 2022 LEC Summer:

  • Team BDS 0 – 1 Misfits Gaming
  • Vitality 1 – 0 SK Gaming
  • Rogue 1 – 0 Excel
  • Astralis 0 – 1 Fnatic
  • MAD Lions 1 – 0 G2 Esports

Rogue vs Excel

Excel, who impressed everyone with their exceptional performance led by Mikyx, kicked off week 3 in first place, having captured two clean wins over VIT and MAD in the previous week. However, the promising EU roster did not seem against Rogue as solid as they were in the past. First of all, Excel could have made a better draft that at least shows what these five will try to do to win the game. Picking Kayle for Finn in top lane undermined their late-game composition built around Zeri.

Even though he had a good game with Kayle against Alphari’s broken Gangplank compared to his teammates, it was not enough because Rogue had early game insurance with Kalista in bottom lane. Rogue took the global gold lead, pressuring their enemies to do mistakes by trying skirmishes around the map. Larssen should be mentioned for this encouraging victory as he ruled over his lane and brought plenty of advantages that put Rogue one step ahead. In the 32nd minute of the match, Rogue destroyed the enemy nexus without wasting time, capturing another win to close the gap between top teams.

MAD Lions vs G2 Esports

MAD Lions could not have started the week better as they annihilated the defending champion in a long, intense 42-minute game. Both teams aimed to take the match to the late phase, but it was MAD who pulled off the win in the end. The map pressure and roam threat Zoe can show off in the early stage gradually disappeared as the game went on to the mid-late phase. This resulted in MAD taking control of the map and neutral objectives to strengthen their compositions. Also, MAD could have finished the game earlier if they had tried more skirmishes.

Week 3 of the LEC 2022 Summer will be concluded with six jaw-dropping matches on the second day. There will be a European derby between G2 Esports and Fnatic, where the winner of the match can finish the day in first place. On the flip side, MAD will take on Misfits Gaming while Excel will go up against Team BDS. Rogue will also seek a perfect week against SK Gaming. You can watch all the action-packed games on the LEC’s Twitch channel.
