BLAST Premier Spring Final 2022: OG Take Down NAVI, FaZe Dismantle paiN

| | ,

BLAST Premier Spring Final is hosting top-tier CS:GO teams around the world in Lisbon, one of the beautiful cities of Portugal. Teams are headed to Altice Arena to attend Spring Final 2022, where the winner of the tournament will earn 200.000$ prize money. Eight proven teams were divided into two groups in which they will compete in a double-elimination system. To quickly mention the format, each group has four teams, and all matches will be bo3 in the group stage. Group stage winners will directly qualify for the semifinals, while runners-up will advance to the quarters as high seeds. Top six teams from the groups will compete in a single-elimination bracket, and all playoff matches will be bo3.

NAVI kicked off the group stage with a demoralizing loss against OG. All eyes were on this series because NAVI benched ”Boombl4” at the end of May due to some allegations against him. ”sdy” joined the team to replace ”Boombl4”, but it looks like NAVI could not get what to expect from the Ukrainian player as of the first series. Although OG were not on their best day, NAVI failed to thread them as if they forgot that they still have the best player in the world, s1mple. After opening up the series with an easy 16-7 win on Inferno, the remaining two maps had better competition. OG tied the series on Mirage and took NAVI to the decider map. Ancient offered an action-packed game which resulted in OG closing out the series 2-1 against NAVI.

G2 Esports and FaZe Clan won their opening series’

FaZe Clan made their BLAST Premier Spring Final debut against the Brazilian representative, paiN Gaming. The best team of 2022 put an end to the series with two quick wins on Ancient and Inferno. G2, on the other hand, dismantled Vitality in their opening series. Even though Vitality secured Dust II in the first game, G2 bounced back with consecutive wins on Inferno and Mirage, led by their veteran star, NiKo. He closed out the series with an outstanding 1.39 rating while leading his team in the macro game. NiKo was also selected as the player of the series by winning 62.1% of the votes.

Thursday will be the do-or-die day for NAVI, paiN, Vitality, and BIG, as they will square off each other in the elimination matches. If they want to carry on their journey in Lisbon, they have to give their everything without making big mistakes. NAVI will take on BIG in the decider series, while Vitality will go up against paiN to secure their spot in the playoffs. FaZe, G2, ENCE, and OG will meet on the following day to complete their groups in first place and qualify for the semifinals. You can watch all the fast-approaching matches from the official BLAST Premier Twitch channel.
