Riot Games announced that the 2022 LCS Summer Split is scheduled to begin on June 18 with an action-packed game between Cloud9 and the defending champion, Evil Geniuses. After weeks of break, the off-season in the LOL pro stage has come to an end with many organizations keeping their starting roster without making radical moves. Evil Geniuses will kick off the league with their current roster that competed at MSI 2022. 100 Thieves will be looking for another Worlds ticket with Closer and Abbedagge. Their rookie top laner, Tenacity, can be expected to find more chances to prove himself on the highest stage.
The team that needs to be mentioned is Cloud9 because there are both new additions and role swaps on the roster. Veteran ADC player Zven announced that they will be playing as support in the upcoming season. Fudge, on the flip side, returned to his original role, top lane, where he was considered the future star. The previous season did not go well for Fudge as a mid laner even though they had the best top laner in the league, Summit. Cloud9 signed Jensen to fill the vacancy left by Judge. Isles and Windsome also parted ways with the team before the start of the league.
Team Liquid will embark on a new journey with their superstars after a disappointing performance throughout the spring playoffs. Contrary to expectations when this super team was formed, Team Liquid were not even able to advance to the grand finals. We will see what this long break will bring to their team synergy.
Schedule
The regular season competition will start with Evil Geniuses taking on Cloud9 in the opening match. 100 Thieves will face off TSM on the same day as Team Liquid will make their LCS debut against Immortals. You can find the full schedule on Lolesports’ official website.
