LPL representative will compete in MSI 2022 Remotely

| | , ,

Riot Games has announced that the LPL representative will play their matches at the upcoming international tournament, MSI 2022, remotely due to the ongoing COVID situation in China. The company decided not to bring the Chinese representative to Busan, South Korea, where the tournament will be held between 10 – 29 May. Travel restrictions and precautions are the main two reasons behind Riot’s decision, given that the 2022 LPL Spring Split Playoffs have been postponed twice due to increasing COVID cases among players and staff.

To guarantee equal opportunity between participating teams, Riot revealed that they developed a network latency tool that keeps the ping level at 35 ms. The Chinese team will be able to play their scrims and matches at the same ping level as the other teams that will compete from the stage by using this unique tool. “To ensure the competitive integrity of the competition, all MSI teams will be able to practice and scrim at this ping, and we will deploy referee support and monitoring throughout the tournament in both Korea and China.” Riot Games global head of esports, Naz Aletaha stated.

MSI 2022 is set to begin on May 10. Only the champions from each region will take part in the tournament to represent their professional leagues. VCS, North America, and CBLOL have not determined their representatives yet. In case you forgot, top two teams from each group will qualify for the rumbling stage, where the best four teams will advance to the knockout stage.

TES and RNG will face off in the finals

Top Esports and Royal Never Give Up will meet at the finals to take the last step on the way to the championship. They faced off in the winner bracket semifinals, and RNG upset TES with a consistent performance they showed off throughout the playoff stage. However, Top Esports recovered well and eliminated Victory Five in the losers’ bracket finals. They have one more chance to make their way to the MSI 2022 by taking down the defending champion, RNG. The 2022 LPL Spring Finals will kick off tomorrow. You can watch all the series from the official LPL Twitch channel.
