VCT 2022: G2 eliminated Gambit, Team Liquid conquered Guild

Valorant Champions Tour 2022: EMEA Stage 1 Challengers becomes one of the year’s most competitive tournaments with its staggering playoff stage results. There is a fierce battle between European and CIS representatives in the lower bracket to secure their spot at the grand finals. G2 Esports eliminated Gambit from the tournament thanks to an amazing start to the series on Icebox and matched with Team Liquid on the next round of the lower bracket.

G2 mostly managed to mislead community predictions, while 8% of them were proud of their choice. To sum it up, 92% of the community thought G2 had no chance against Gambit.

G2 vs Gambit

The series kicked off with an impressive Icebox competition that resulted in G2 taking the lead against Gambit. European teams once again showed how assertive they are on Icebox. On the second map of the series, Gambit looked they could not get over their shock from the previous match, though Sheydos showed an outstanding performance.

Scores and assists were distributed equally on G2, which made their economy indestructible, and they had a consistent macro strategy that they stuck to throughout the game. G2 nullified Gambit’s effort to tie the series as they move into the next round in the lower bracket.

They will face off Team Liquid on 25 March to take the last step for the bracket finals. If G2 wins the series, their opponent in the lower bracket finals will be either Fnatic or FPX. Both teams secured their spot at the next international tournament, VCT Masters: Reykjavik.

Team Liquid vs Guild

On the flip side of the lower bracket, two European representatives faced off to continue their miracle run. Guild Esports have been knocked out from the VCT 2022: EMEA Stage 1 Challengers by the hands of Team Liquid. However, their fans are not pissed off because they lived up to the expectations compared to the other EU-based teams, such as Acend, SMB, BBL, BIG, and LDNU.

Taking part in the first international Valorant tournament of 2022 was an acceptable start to the new season for Guild Esports. They will continue to hard work to make their way to the VCT Masters: Reykjavik, which is set to begin on 12 April. Only time will tell us whether Guild will be a contender for the big titles in the future or not. We may also see roster changes for them in the upcoming weeks.

VCT 2022: EMEA Stage 1 Challengers will continue with an action-packed winner bracket series between FNC and FPX, which seemed to be the two best-performing teams in the tournament. Besides that, the European derby between G2 and Team Liquid is scheduled to begin after the winner bracket series is played. You can catch all the action from Valorant’s official Twitch channel.
