With the group stage of the ESL One Stockholm 2022 now behind, the best Dota teams across the world met in the first round of the playoffs. T1, Thunder Awaken, Tundra Esports, TSM, OG, Gaimin Gladiators, and BetBoom made it out of their groups in top four place and faced each other to secure their spot in the winner bracket semifinals. After going undefeated in the group stage, Tundra Esports maintained their phenomenal streak by dismantling Team Spirit, who finished group B in fourth place at the end of tie-breakers. The England-based team matched Thunder Awaken in the next round, which is set to play on May 18. Thunder Awaken vanquished BetBoom and sent them against Team Liquid in the losers bracket.
TSM advanced to the semifinals thanks to their outstanding performance against OG. In both matches, they were always in the driver’s seat and showed off an efficient macro game strategy to break OG’s barricade. TSM are set to meet Gaimin Gladiators, who conquered T1 in a quick 2-0 series, while OG will have to beat BOOM to stay alive in the lower bracket.

T1 fell into the lower bracket
T1 will face off Fnatic in the first round of the playoffs. They had a rough group stage, finishing behind BetBoom with an average record of 2W2D2L. On the flip side, Fnatic completed group B in fifth place and will start their playoff run from the lower bracket. One of their two victories in the groups was against Mind Games, which resulted in their disqualification. Fnatic could not stand against the other teams, only beat TSM to secure their spot in the playoffs. Round 1 series will probably pass with T1 domination, but Fnatic may have prepared some surprises to astound them.
TSM, Tundra Esports, Thunder Awaken, and Gaimin Gladiators also secured their spot in the lower bracket quarterfinals. The losers of the semifinals will fall into the lower bracket and meet the winners of round 2 to continue their playoff run. T1, OG, BetBoom, and Team Spirit are one step ahead of their opponents, considering their recent performance. Fans can expect these four teams to match in round 2, which will determine who will face off those from the winner bracket. The first round series’ of the lower side is set to play on May 17.
All matches will be bo5, including semifinals and bracket finals, while grand finals will be bo5. The Semifinal series’ will begin on May 18 with one lower bracket matchup, T1 versus Fnatic. Round 2 of the loser’s bracket is scheduled to play on May 20. The Grand finals of the ESL One Stockholm 2022, which will determine the best Dota 2 team in the world, are slated to begin on May 22.
