The first Major of the year, ESL One Stockholm 2022, is set to play between 12-22 May. Hovet Arena will open its doors to fans from all over the world who want to support their team on the stage. Stockholm Major will be the first international Dota tournament with a live audience in over two years. Here are all the details you need to know about the upcoming Major before the best teams start writing their own stories.

Format

Fourteen teams across the world will be divided into two groups. Stockholm Major was originally set to be held with eighteen representatives, but Chinese teams will not be able to participate in the competition due to COVID precautions and travel restrictions. Top four teams from each group will start their playoff run from the winner bracket, while the 5th and 6th teams will meet in the lower bracket. Only two teams will be eliminated from Stockholm Major at the end of the group stage. Lastly, matches will be bo1 in the groups and will be held between the 12th – 17th of May to keep up with the schedule.

The playoff stage of Dota 2 Stockholm Major, where 12 teams will battle it out in a double-elimination method, will kick off on May 18. All matches will be bo3, while grand finals will traditionally be bo5. ESL also revealed that all playoff matches will be broadcast on the main stream. The grand finals are scheduled to play on May 22.
