The best 24 teams around the world somehow started their journey in the first Major of the year, PGL Major Antwerp 2022. Top eight teams from the Challengers Stage advanced to the Legends Stage thanks to their consistent performance throughout the first stage of the tournament. G2 Esports, Team Vitality, Team Spirit, Outsiders, Imperial Esports, Team Liquid, Bad News Eagles, and ENCE, who reached the finals at ESL Pro League Season 5, are the eight teams to qualify for the Legends Stage at the end of eliminations.
16 teams were implemented in a swiss system format to determine who will make their way to the Champions Stage. As a reminder, top eight teams from the Legends Stage will secure their spot at the final stage. All matches will be bo1 except advancements and eliminations. Participants were randomly matched in round 1 of the Legends stage, and some results should be mentioned. At the end of the first round, teams were divided into two groups where losers and winners faced off each other separately. In other words, the teams that won their first match at the Legends stage, such as NIP, NAVI, and Heroic, were sent to the winner bracket while the losers played their second matches in the lower bracket.

ENCE took their revenge on FaZe Clan, who dismantled them at ESL Pro League Season 15 finals one month ago. Although they lost to CPHF 16-8 in the second round, ENCE will have a chance to prove that they are still one of the best teams in world rankings against Outsiders in round 3 mid matches, which are scheduled to begin today.
After being slapped by ENCE in round 1, the defending champion, FaZe Clan, took down Bad News Eagles 16-4 on Mirage to avoid falling into the lower bracket again. FaZe will meet Cloud9, who lost to NIP in their second match, in round 3 to qualify for the final stage. This matchup can be expected to be a banger, considering both teams are able to respond to each other in different ways.
Team Spirit made an excellent start to the PGL Major Antwerp 2022 with two clean wins over FURIA and Heroic. Both of their matches were played on Nuke, and the result remained the same. Patsi led his team to victory against Heroic with 25 kills and a +8 KDA score as s1ren stood out against FURIA with his 1.29 efficient rating. They will battle it out against CPHF in their first bo3 series in the tournament. Heroic will take on G2 Esports, while FURIA will try their chance against BIG.
