Who will meet 100 Thieves at the LCS 2022 Spring Finals?

| | , ,

100 Thieves became the first team to secure their spot at the 2022 LCS Spring Finals, which is slated to begin on 24 April, after sweeping Team Liquid led by Ssumday and Closer in the semifinals. The reigning champion is now waiting for their opponent they will meet at the finals. 100 Thieves are one step away from representing North America in the upcoming international tournament, MSI 2022.

Team Liquid and Evil Geniuses will meet for the third time this season

Evil Geniuses and Team Liquid will square off to have one ticket left for the finals. Both teams faced off in the 2022 LCS Lock-In tournament, and Team Liquid upset EG`s newly restructured roster around Inspired. Evil Geniuses will have a chance to get their revenge on the North American super team. Team Liquid, on the other hand, will try to live up to the expectations with the star-studded roster they formed in the off-season. The final series of the lower bracket, which will determine who will play against 100 Thieves at the grand finals, will kick off on April 23. The winner of the series will have to be ready for the finals because there will be no time for them to prepare.

Team Liquid finished the regular season in first place thanks to Cloud9 losing their last matches against mid-tier teams. What can be considered good news for Team Liquid is they beat Evil Geniuses in the first round of the playoffs even though the Inspired-Impact duo took them to five games. Team Liquid could not show off a satisfying performance considering the talent gap between these two teams, but somehow made their way to the second round. This is where the strings were cut.

100 Thieves vs Team Liquid

Team Liquid met the defending champion, 100 Thieves, to qualify for the finals. The loser of the series would have one more chance to continue their playoff run through the lower bracket. 100 Thieves opened up the series with two consecutive losses against Team Liquid and decided to return their traditional game plan, which led them to the championship in the previous season. Ssumday took the role of supportive top laner, Closer stood out as the decision-maker and hyper carry of his team. Team Liquid were not able to handle it, and the course of the series has completely changed.

It is inexplicable why TL did not ban Ornn when Ssumday performed so well. Getting Ssumday out of her comfort zone was what Team Liquid had to do, given that they have Bwipo on their roster. 100 Thieves swept TL and qualified for the finals.

Evil Geniuses continued their playoff run with a quick 3-1 win over FlyQuest. The do-or-die series for them was against Cloud9, who destroyed Golden Guardians in the previous round. Fans and analysts expected Cloud9 would shut the series down somehow, but things did not go that way. Evil Geniuses wiped out Team Liquid 3-0, led by their superstar, Inspired, and veteran shot caller, Impact. They now have one more titan to beat to advance to the finals, where they can complete their fairy tales.
