2022 BAFTA Game Awards: Nominations

British Academy of Film and Television Arts has announced the nominations for the 2022 BAFTA Game Awards, with It Takes Two leading eight different categories. Returnal, a first-person shooter roguelike released back in April 2021, also accumulated eight nominations, including Narrative and Original Property.

Note that EE Game of the year is now open for voting, so you can follow the link to choose your favorite title. The only category open to the public comprises Deathloop, The Forgotten City, Metroid Dread, It Takes Two, Unpacking, and Chicory: A Colorful Tale.

Which game will be the best of 2021?

Forza Horizon 5, the racing game that attracts millions of players from all over the world, has been nominated in categories like Multiplayer, Game Design, Family, British Game, and Best Game. It would not be surprising if Forza Horizon 5 shines at the top as the best game of the year, given its excellent sales performance and mostly positive reviews from gamers.

Halo Infinite and Back 4 Blood will compete in Multiplayer category, while Life is Strange True Colors will stand out as a strong candidate for Narrative. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, which will make its way to Game Pass soon, received nomination in Audio Achievement.

Unpacking is the featured indie game in the 2022 BAFTA Game Awards with three nominations in Original Property, Narrative, and Family. Developed by Witch Beam, Unpacking is a puzzle game that blends its unique pixel art style and excellent sound design together. Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is leading the nominations

PlayStation exclusive third-person shooter thriller developed by Insomniac Games, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart picked up seven nominations after being named Family Game of The Year at the DICE Awards 2022. The game met many positive reviews on its launch in terms of pushing the technological limits of next-generation consoles. Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart will probably win Technical Achievement and will be a competitor in Game Design category.
