Cryptocurrency is Actually Accepted By This Game Retailer

Over the past few years, we’ve seen story after story about people getting rich from cryptocurrencies like bitcoin. It always seems to revolve around the act of buying cryptos and selling them when the value of the currency rises. So it’s actually pretty strange to hear of someone using cryptocurrency as an actual currency. Not many storefronts even accept cryptocurrency, but 2Game has decided to make it available.

2Game now accepts :

  • Bitcoin
  • Bitcoin Cash
  • Etherium
  • USD Coin
  • Litecoin
  • and DAI

2Game is an online retailer of digital game keys for platforms like Steam and is based in Hong Kong. Unlike sites like G2A, 2Game gets its keys from distribution agreements with publishers. G2A has received a lot of criticism over the years for its practice of allowing users to sell their own game keys. This can allow people to sell pirated game keys and make a profit. A profit that would otherwise go to the developers and publishers of the games. So 2Game does seem like a safer place to purchase game keys.

In a market that appears to be dominated by Valve, it seems like 2Game wants to use crypto as a way to stand out. Users on Good Old Games have been asking for the ability to purchase with bitcoin for a while now. A post on GOGs Community Wishlist forum by a user named ‘someguy1234’, lists all the benefits that GOG could expect if they decided to start accepting bitcoin. The post even has 216 comments in support of the idea. So there is clearly some demand to integrate cryptocurrency payments into online game purchases.

So if you’re looking to purchase games using crypto, then you finally have a chance.
