MSI 2022 Preview Series: T1

| | , ,

T1 are undoubtedly the most accomplished organization in League of Legends’ competitive history. With their revamped roster that went undefeated in the regular split for the first time in the LCK history, T1 will move into the MSI 2022 to etch its name on the books. This year’s international tournaments are going to be a banger, and T1 will be the protagonist of the script.

Their starting roster includes Faker, Gumayusi, Keria, Zzeus, and Oner. There are only two players who have already left their mark on the league, legendary mid laner, Faker, and playmaker support, Keria.

The Korean organization parted ways with Canna ahead of the spring to find the correct piece of the puzzle. Zzeus was promoted to starting lineup from the academy team and relieved T1’s hands at some angles of the game. He could play weak side, which is why T1 trusted him throughout the season. Now teams had to come up with other strategies against T1, which was difficult either. T1 kept their remaining four players and released Cuzz, Teddy, and Ellim to make it easier for them to find a new home.

T1’s phenomenal 2022 run

Damwon KIA lost from last year, given that their world champion bot lane duo, Ghost and Beryl, parted ways with the team while Khan announced its retirement from pro play. GEN gained Chovy, Peanut, Doran, and Legends, but it would take some time to get used to each other. T1 players got through the previous season together, except Zzeus.

T1 finished the regular season undefeated with a phenomenal 18-0 record, which was a first in the LCK history. After taking down Kwangdong Freecs in the semifinals, T1 faced off against GEN in the 2022 LCK Finals. This was the first time the two teams met in a final. Although GEN were better than their regular split appearance, it was not enough to defeat T1. Legendary mid laner Faker added another LCK trophy to his collection, and led his team to lift the trophy at the end of the season.

MSI 2022 will be held in T1’s home, South Korea. Fans can’t wait to watch them in the opening match of the tournament against Saigon Buffalo. T1 is expected to go undefeated in the groups, and their real journey will begin in the rumbling stage.
