Capcom announced that its latest installment of the popular action-adventure series, Devil May Cry5, has sold five million units worldwide. The developer company celebrated this success through a tweet in the Japanese language shared on DMC’s official account. Devil May Cry 5 broke another milestone after Capcom announced that the game’s sales number had surpassed two million in March 2021. It looks like Devil May Cry 5 attracted not only its original fan base but also newcomers with its fast-paced, electrifying combat system, as well as its action-packed, immersive story.
Devil May Cry 5, developed and published by Capcom, was first released on March 7, 2019. The game was directed by Hideaki Itsuno, who is also known for his work on Dragon’s Dogma. DMC 5 takes place in a universe built four years after the previous game. Dante, Nero, and V are the three main protagonists of the story, focused on their drastic journey to hamper Urizen from destroying the world.
As a Devil May Cry addict who has finished the entire series many times in his life before, it is nice to see that Devil May Cry 5 lived up to the expectations even though the previous installments of the series were criticized by players in some aspects such as storytelling, combat mechanics, and character portrayal.
Capcom did not specify if these sales include Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition, which came out in November 2020. You can purchase DMC 5 from Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, PS4, PS5, and PC, via Steam for just 29.99$.
