The 2022 LPL Spring Playoffs have officially been delayed until April 12 due to COVID cases, Riot Games announced today. This will be the second postponement for the Chinese league LPL in this rip-roaring season. The playoff stage was originally scheduled to end one month before the MSI 2022, which is set to begin on May 10, kick-off. However, last week the most competitive league in the world received its first postponement due to the lockdown in Shanghai city.

‘’ Due to current Covid situation, to protect the health and safety of our players, coaches, staff, and team personnel, we have decided to postpone the playoffs schedule to April 12th and onwards.’’ the LPL management revealed the main reason behind the postponement with a statement shared on its Twitter account.

LPL 2022 Spring Playoffs will return on April 12

According to the new playoffs schedule announced by the LPL, the remaining five series until the grand final will be played between 12-20 April. Also, an exact date for the grand final has yet to be announced. Top Esports will face off against the regular-season juggernaut, Victory Five, on April 12, while RNG will meet JD Gaming on the other side of the winner bracket on April 13. The losers of these two series will square off to make their way to the semifinals on April 16.

Edward Gaming, the defending champion, has been knocked out from the 2022 LPL Spring Playoffs by the hands of Weibo Gaming. Another heartbreaking of the season is LNG Esports. After the organization acquired Doinb from FPX, LNG were expected to be a contender for the title, but they could not even make it to Round 4. Top Esports, who considerably improved its performance in recent months, smashed LNG 3-0 and maintained its flawless run.

Round 4 of the 2022 LPL Spring Playoffs will return on April 12 with a potential action-packed series between the best two teams recently, Victory Five and Top Esports. You can watch all the playoff series from the official LPL Twitch channel.
