The regular season of the 2022 LCS Spring Split has finally come and gone, with Team Liquid capturing the first seed in their last match against TSM. Although Cloud9 sat on the throne for most of the season, Team Liquid closed up the 2022 Spring Split in first place.
Team Liquid selected Evil Geniuses as their opponent that they will face off in the first round of the lower bracket, thanks to their final standings. The defending champion, 100 Thieves, lost to Dignitas in their latest match and unexpected results against mid-tier teams hurt them in the standings. If 100 Thieves had not been beaten twice by Dignitas, they could have finished the regular season in first place. The reigning champion will meet Cloud9 on the other side of the winner bracket. The loser of the series will fall to the lower bracket, while the winner will struggle against Team Liquid or Evil Geniuses.
Here are the final standings for the 2022 LCS Spring Split
As a result of tie-breaker matches, Evil Geniuses tied in fourth place so that they will start from the winner bracket. Their first playoff series will be tough because Team Liquid defeated Evil Geniuses in the 2022 LCS Lock-In Finals, which were held before the regular season began. Team Liquid are better than they were in Lock-In. Every piece on the North American super team is in place, and the roles are set. The coaching staff also have found the ideal way to use their superstars most effectively. Evil Geniuses have a chance to send Team Liquid to the loser’s bracket, but it is questionable how big this chance is.
FLY and GG made their way to the playoffs!
FlyQuest and Golden Guardians are now waiting for their rivals that they will battle it out in the first round of the lower bracket. Both teams left behind a successful season given their starting rosters, and qualifying for the playoffs will be enough for them and their fans. The other two teams, coming from the winner bracket, will be the favorite against them. However, it can not be said that they will have no chance to advance to the next round. We will see all the results in the upcoming week.
The first round of the playoff stage is set to begin on April 2 with a breathtaking series between 100 Thieves and Cloud9. The reigning champion will try to maintain its crown while Cloud9 will fight with its newly restructured roster. The second series will be played on April 4 between Team Liquid and Evil Geniuses. You can watch all the playoff series from the official LCS Twitch channel.
