The annual Warhammer Skulls event went live today and with it came some pretty interesting reveals and announcements. Among other things, a new Total War Warhammer 2 DLC known as The Silence & The Fury, which was revealed at the very start of the showcase. Many of us were hoping for one more TW: W2 DLC before the release of Total War Warhammer 3 later this year and it looks like this is it. Technically, Creative Assembly hasn’t said anything about this being the final DLC for the game but it seems pretty likely given how close we are to the sequel.
The Silence & The Fury looks like your typical Lords Pack that brings to the table two new factions along with units, gameplay mechanics, and quests. The Legendary Lords will come in the form of Taurox for the Beastmen and Oxyotl for the Lizardmen. We’ve already had quite a few Total War Warhammer 2 DLC focused on the Lizardmen, so the introduction of Oxyotl isn’t particularly exciting. The Beastmen, on the other hand, haven’t received any love from CA in quite a while and it’s great to finally see that changing. Hopefully, the DLC also brings with it a bit of a gameplay overhaul for the Beastmen. They could definitely use it.
We don’t have any information regarding the new unit rosters just yet, but the developers did reveal some details about the new unique mechanics coming with the two Legendary Lords. According to the blurb found on the DLC’s Steam page, “As he wins battles, Taurox gains Momentum, and his army can replenish action points to fight and fight again. The longer his kill-streak continues, the greater the gifts bestowed upon him by the ruinous powers.”
Meanwhile, Oxyotl seems to have access to a form of fast travel that allows him to instantly move between his capitol, mission areas, and Secret Sanctums. Not the most exciting mechanic compared to some of the other Lords in the game, but it does sound like something that would come in handy in certain situations.
Total War Warhammer 2 DLC aside, today’s Skulls showcase also gave us another look at the sequel, a new Vermintide 2 update, some new details regarding Daktide, and a few other bits and pieces about a wide variety of other Warhammer games. It’s honestly pretty hard to keep tabs on everything that’s going on with this franchise these days Luckily, our list of new and upcoming Warhammer games of 2021 and beyond can help you with that.
If you’re looking to add more skulls to your personal skull throne make sure to check out the massive Warhammer sales that just went live on GOG and Steam. GOG is even giving away neat Warhammer Skulls Digital Goodies Pack for free. Speaking of free stuff, you can go to Steam right now and grab yourself a copy of Warhammer Underworlds: Online at no charge whatsoever.
The Silence & The Fury is set to launch on July 14th. The DLC is 10% if you pre-order it until then.
