A new Skate game is happening, finally. After goodness knows how long of internet comments asking for a new Skate game, EA announced during its EA Play live stream that we will be getting one. And just like that 2020 got a bit better, and also makes the year even crazier somehow.
Creative Director on the new game Cuz Perry stated: “you commented this into existence”. It’s good to see fans’ requests finally getting fulfilled and also means we get a new game in such a fun series.
EA Black Box who developed the original Skate, Skate 2 and Skate 3 is unfortunately no longer with us after being closed down. Developers who were part of Black Box and worked on Skate in the past are a part of the new project.
Don’t expect to be playing this new Skate game anytime soon though as it’s still early in development. And will most likely release on next-gen systems. We don’t even know what the actual name of this game will be, so it might not actually be called Skate 4.
In the meantime, if you want to get a Skate fix you can play the entertaining older Skate titles. And if you’re on Xbox One, the original Skate and Skate 3 are both backwards compatible.
