‘Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba’ Season 3 gets first Trailer!

| | , ,

Ever since Demon Slayer first aired in April of 2019 it’s been, without question, one of the most popular anime of all time and definitely one of the biggest of the time.

No matter what your opinions are on ‘Demon Slayer’ there is no denying that it’s become a massive phenomenon world-wide. It’s consistently received critical and commercial success with each season(2 completed) and movie(only 1).

I’ll be covering my personal opinions on Demon Slayer in a totally separate article as part of my ‘Should You Watch’ series.

Swordsmith Village Arc

The 5th arc of the Demon Slayer and the 3rd Season of it’s Anime has just released it’s first teaser trailer for the upcoming Swordsmith’s Village Arc.

It was released yesterday(April 15,2022) on day 1 of a Special Anniversary Event being held all weekend.

Originally released by Aniplex Japan on their Youtube Channel, It was originally geo-locked(unavailable in certain countries) but since they have added it to their official Aniplex USA channel.

I’ve attached it below so feel free to watch. I’ll make minor comments on the trailer itself and some key things to note afterwards.

We’re not shown much of anything really aside from a few quick shots of two Hashira The Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji and the Mist Hashira Miuchiro Tokito. We’ve met both Hashira’s before briefly, but they will be the featured Hashira in this arc teaching and hanging out with the Squad.

This poster was released at the end of Season 2 as part of the announcement for season 3.

The Mist Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji(Left) and The Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji(right)

Both are considered to be very powerful Hashira in their own rights and I am very excited to see the two of them in this arc.

How does it Line up with the Manga?

The Manga finished publication on May 18, 2020 so if you want to go read instead of waiting you can do so through VIZ.

The Swordsmith Arc begins at Chapter 100 and ends at Chapter 127.

These chapters translate to Volume’s 12 and 13 if you are looking to read by buying the tankōbon.

When Will the Swordsmith Arc Release?

While there is no official release date for season 3 of Demon Slayer, it’s scheduled to release in April 2023.

I anticipate that Demon Slayer will continue airing on Sundays.

What Should We Expect?

With ufotable still producing Demon Slayer this is what I expect from the season

  • Incredible Animation
  • A Stellar Soundtrack
  • 12-16 Episodes

Demon Slayer has only improved as it continued, especially in the animation department. So much so that s2 cemented Demon Slayer as my favorite anime solely because of the incredible cinematography and animation.

I’ve always believed that soundtracks and sound mixing is critical to all anime, especially shounens like Demon Slayer. I’ve always found the music to be quite beautiful in the series.

I expect 12-16 episodes for the season. Season 2 was a much shorter season because the Entertainment District Arc had a lot of action. One fight literally lasted most of the season. That fight had more phases in it than an Elden Ring boss(kekw). I think this season is going to be a little longer than season 2 because it starts off at a slower pace than the Entertainment District Arc did.

Where Can I watch Demon Slayer?

If you’re looking to start Demon Slayer or catch up on it, you can watch all of it on Crunchyroll and Hulu, or Season 1 on Netflix.

All three require a subscription, but you can watch it for free on Crunchyroll with ads.
