all five characters will return

Oculus announced Resident Evil 4 VR will get a Mercenaries mode. It will arrive as part of a free update sometime in 2022.

Oculus did not provide a more specific timeframe for when fans can expect the update. That said, it confirmed the update will include additional comfort options. These include hand-based steering, an adjustable height for Leon’s in-game chest, and more.

As the name implies, Mercenaries is a very action-focused game mode. It pits you against a horde of enemies as you try to survive until the clock expires.

Mercenaries has been a Resident Evil game mode for some time, dating back to Resident Evil 3. Most recently, the game mode was available in Resident Evil: Village.

The original Resident Evil 4 also included a Mercenaries mode. It allowed you to play as Leon, Ada, Krauser, Wesker, and HUNK. Also, it included four stages.

If players get a 5-star ranking on every stage with every character, they get the Handcannon as a reward.

The updated Mercenaries mode for Resident Evil 4 VR will include all five aforementioned characters. Oculus did not say if the stages will also return.

In related news, Oculus also announced Resident Evil 4 VR is the fastest-selling app ever on the Oculus Store. The game remains exclusive to the Quest 2 VR headset. There is no indication yet if the game will head to other VR platforms.
