It’s showtime – Following a leak last week, Atlus has officially announced a February 23, 2021 worldwide release date for the highly anticipated Persona 5 Strikers. The game was released in Japan earlier this year, and as of December has sold over 500,000 copies.

Developed by Omega Force and P-Studio, Persona 5 Strikers is a crossover game between Koei Tecmo’s Dynasty Warriors franchise and Atlus’s Persona 5. The hack-and-slash meets JRPG follows high-school vigilante Joker and his group of Phantom Thieves as they return to the Metaverse to take on new corruption.

The story is set six months after the events of Persona 5 take place. Fans of the series will be treated to new villains, dungeons, and adventures with their favorite characters. But if you are new to the series, don’t worry about feeling left behind. Developers have assured new players won’t need to have played through P5 to enjoy the new game (unless of course, you’re looking for a fabulous place to sink 100ish hours).

The hybrid gameplay stands out as one of the game’s defining features. The addition of real-time action combat will up the adrenaline of the turn-based mechanics reminiscent of Persona 5. However, players are still able to pause the battle while using a command-based skills menu to operate Personas.

Instead of the Confidant mechanic, players will use the new B.A.N.D. system to gain bonuses and increase stats. Whether Morgana will still incessantly remind you of your bedtime is yet to be seen.

Persona 5 Strikers is available for pre-order December 10, and will be released February 23, 2021 for the PS4 (playable on PS5 via backwards compatibility), Nintendo Switch, and on Steam. Watch the exciting announcement trailer below:
