Kingdom Come: Deliverance was a fairly divisive game when it was first released. On one hand, it was one of the most realistic and historically accurate RPGs ever made. On the other hand, it was a bit hard to get fully immersed in its world on account of all the technical issues that were plaguing the game at launch. The good news is that many of these problems have been fixed in the meantime. Furthermore, Kingdom: Come Deliverance just got a new DLC so now is the perfect time to give the game a try if you haven’t already.
From the Ashes is the first premium DLC for Kingdom Come: Deliverance and you can check it out starting today. Warhorse Studios released a number of smaller updates over the last several months, however, this is the first piece of content that adds something truly interesting to the game. This isn’t exactly a major expansion but it does add enough content to keep players busy for a while.
A New Permanent Home for the Protagonist
In Kingdom Come: Deliverance you start off as a lowly peasant but you can eventually work your way up and make a name for yourself. From the Ashes assumes that you’ve already played a fair amount as the DLC appoints you the title of bailiff from the get-go. As bailiff, your job is to help oversee the construction of a new village from the group up. Sounds easy but this is Kingdom Come: Deliverance after all so expect some challenges along the way.
According to Warhorse Studios, each one of the buildings available for construction is unique and features special upgrades. Different buildings require different amounts of materials so you won’t be able to simply build everything at once. Kingdom Come: Deliverance takes pride in its realism so don’t expect the village to build itself. Instead, it’s your job to hire workers and keep them happy. Your workforce is limited and each building has different labor requirements, which can make managing everything a bit difficult.
Building a whole village from scratch is no easy feat but it will be well worth it in the end. From the Ashes also adds a new home where the player can rest and unwind between missions. The home is fully furnished and offers a bit of respite from the otherwise bleak world of Kingdom Come: Deliverance. In addition to the player home, the village includes a few more places you’ll probably want to check out. These include a tavern, a combat arena, and a stable complete with new horses that you can take for a ride anytime you want.
From the Ashes is now available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One for $10 or your regional equivalent.
