As promised, we’ve looked across the web to find out what the web’s leading gaming authorities are saying about The Witcher 3: The Hunt’s next-gen update.
Therefore, without further ado…
Thomas Morgan of Eurogamer stated – “Still, The Witcher 3 on PS5 and Series X impressed hugely in the four hours we played it – and not just in the visual upgrades, which include reworked foliage, 4K textures and higher-quality models throughout. There are also significant quality of life improvements, like a revised camera and faster controls for using signs, the magic spells of the Witcher universe. All told, the game truly looks and plays better than ever before.
The next-gen Update is certainly shaping up to be one of the most comprehensive free game upgrades in recent memory. It’s also the last time that CDPR are expecting to use the Witcher engine, with the studio moving to Unreal Engine 5 for future releases. So it’s a historic release in many respects – and a fitting wrap-up to a game that arguably remains CDPR’s best work.”
Jake Dekker of Gamespot stated – “While none of these tweaks and additions fundamentally change The Witcher 3, they do make one of the best games of the last decade even better. If you’ve never played The Witcher 3, The Complete Edition is the perfect opportunity to jump in. If you’ve already played The Witcher 3, I’d still encourage you to check out this update when it drops later this month. The new quest is well worth your time, and the new photo mode makes it fun to revisit some of The Witcher 3’s most iconic locations.”
Matt Kim of IGN stated – “Even if nothing fundamentally changes with The Witcher 3 after its next-gen update, the rough edges are now much, much smoother and the new creative changes offer a fresh enough take that newcomers and veterans alike will at least want to check out the changes in the update. There’s a good chance it might suck you back in for your second, or fifth playthrough.”
With such glowing press reviews, is it safe to say that we’re incredibly excited?
The wait is almost over – the next-gen update will be available to all gamers on December 14th!
